Russian strike knocks another DTEK thermal power plant offline
A large-scale Russian attack has severely damaged a thermal power plant owned by DTEK, Ukraine's biggest private energy company, forcing it to halt electricity generation.

Russia has carried out a large-scale attack on a thermal power plant belonging to DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, inflicting serious damage on the facility's equipment. As a result, the plant has been forced to stop generating electricity.
The DTEK Group confirmed the attack but did not specify which of its stations was hit this time.
DTEK's plants and their status
DTEK owns eight thermal power plants in total: Kryvorizka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Prydniprovska in the city of Dnipro, Ladyzhynska in Vinnytsia Oblast, Dobrotvirska in Lviv Oblast, Burshtynska in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, and the Kurakhivska, Luhanska and Zaporizhzhia plants.
The Luhanska and Zaporizhzhia plants have remained under Russian occupation since 2022, while Russian forces destroyed the Kurakhivska plant back in 2024.
In June, DTEK announced plans to build a new 650MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant on the site of the Burshtynska station in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
