Russian forces attacked Odesa, a city in southern Ukraine, again overnight on 8 November. The strike set a non-residential building on fire and damaged a private house nearby. The information was provided by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa city military administration.

What the official said

Lysak said the enemy attack caused a non-residential building to catch fire in one of the city's districts. The blast wave shattered windows in a private house close by. The statement gave no further detail about the exact location of the strike or the weapons used.

Casualties and response

No information about injured people has been received so far. All relevant emergency services are working at the scene.

What happened earlier

On the evening of 7 November, Russian troops had attacked Odesa's infrastructure, and one person was killed. The photo that accompanied the original report is illustrative and shows the aftermath of the Russian attack on the Odesa region on 7 November, as recorded by the Odesa regional military administration.

The city has therefore come under attack twice within about a day: first in the evening, when infrastructure was hit and a person died, and then overnight, when a fire broke out and a house was damaged. Officials are continuing to establish the full consequences of the latest strike.
