Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia damages apartment blocks and shopping centre, one injured
A fresh Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia has damaged two apartment buildings, an educational facility and a shopping centre, leaving at least one person injured. Large fires broke out at the impact sites as emergency crews worked to contain the damage.
The Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia came under renewed Russian attack, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure, according to Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Defence Council, and Mykhailo Semenikin, acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
The officials reported that at least one person was injured in the strike. Two multi-storey apartment buildings, an educational institution and a shopping centre sustained damage.
Large-scale fires
Photos and videos from the scene show extensive fires at several impact sites. Preliminary information indicates that one of the strikes hit the "Intrade" shopping centre.
State Emergency Service units, medics and other specialised services are currently working at the affected locations to deal with the aftermath of the attack.
Pattern of strikes
The attack follows a similar strike on the evening of September 17, when the Russian military hit the "Amstor" shopping centre in Zaporizhzhia, underscoring a continued pattern of Russian strikes on civilian targets in the city.
