Russian troops shared military secrets in public Telegram chat, ASTRA reports
A Russian unit inadvertently leaked operational details including drone access codes and command meeting links in a public Telegram chat.

According to a report by the independent media outlet ASTRA, a Russian military unit has inadvertently disclosed sensitive operational information in a public Telegram chat. The chat contained access credentials for drone video feeds, as well as links to command meetings. Additionally, documents detailing the unit's losses and the mounting pressure on frontline personnel were leaked.
Such a breach poses significant security risks, as the enemy could exploit this information to gain insights into Russian troop deployments, tactics, and morale. ASTRA, which focuses on investigative reporting about the Russia-Ukraine war, noted that the chat was freely accessible to anyone.
This incident highlights ongoing issues with internal communication and discipline within the Russian armed forces, especially given previous reports of similar leaks. The exposed data could be used by Ukrainian intelligence to adjust their defensive and counteroffensive strategies. It remains unclear whether Russian authorities have taken any measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
