Kristsons scores and gets red card, Mārupe snatches win in Latvian Cup

The final round before the round of 16 of the men's Latvian Cup saw a thrilling match between Mārupe and Riga-based team 'Aliance' at the Jaunmārupe stadium, ending with a 4-2 home victory after extra time.
The first half ended goalless, and just before the hour mark the score remained 0-0. In the 56th minute, Rūdolfs Zeņģis put Mārupe ahead. However, 'Aliance' fought back: in the 81st minute, Sportacentrs.com football commentator Ēriks Kristsons scored to make it 1-1. Five minutes later, former 'Metta' and 'Skonto' striker Mārtiņš Milašēvičs gave the visitors a surprising lead.
Riga's side could not hold on until the end of regular time: in the 89th minute, Ralfs Rinalds Spēks equalized to make it 2-2. The match went into extra time, where Ričards Penka put Mārupe ahead again in the 11th minute. Near the end of the first half of extra time, Kristsons received a straight red card, reducing his team to ten men. Mikus Dobrājs sealed the win for Mārupe in the 119th minute, making it 4-2.
