Search operation enters fourth day in Kryvyi Rih, three still missing after Russian mall strike

Rescue teams in Kryvyi Rih are continuing a search operation for a fourth day following a Russian strike on a shopping mall, with three people, including a child, still unaccounted for. The attack has so far killed 16 people.

Rescue operations in Kryvyi Rih have entered their fourth consecutive day following a Russian strike on a shopping mall, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS). Three people, including one child, remain missing.

A total of 185 emergency workers and 42 pieces of equipment have been deployed at the site. Eight service dogs from the State Emergency Service arrived along with their handlers from the Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Poltava regions, as well as from the city of Dnipro. Canine units have already searched more than 1,000 square meters of the destroyed complex, while rescuers have cleared 1,900 square meters of damaged structures.

Background

Russian forces struck the shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih twice with drones on August 21. The attack killed 16 people and injured a total of 140 at the time. According to the latest data from the State Emergency Service, the number of injured has since risen to 136, including 26 children.

As of the morning of August 24, 49 people wounded in the strike remain hospitalized, with 15 of them in serious or critical condition.
