Kučinskis to convene Crisis Management meeting over storm damage

Finance Minister Māris Kučinskis, currently serving as acting Prime Minister, has called a Crisis Management Council meeting for Monday, August 24, at 10:00, to coordinate efforts to address the aftermath of a powerful storm that hit Latvia over the weekend, the Finance Ministry announced.
Purpose of the meeting
The meeting is set to assess the damage caused by the storm and the measures needed to address it, as well as to discuss the further actions of the responsible institutions. All relevant state institutions will take part in the session to ensure a coordinated and efficient response.
The Finance Ministry, together with the institutions involved, said it will continue monitoring how the situation develops. If necessary, further support and financing solutions for addressing the storm's consequences will be considered.
Storm impact
On Saturday evening and into the night before Sunday, a very powerful storm swept across Latvia, leaving more than a quarter of a million households across the country without electricity.
