PM Kulbergs' parliamentary secretary discloses debts alongside sizable savings
An asset declaration filed by Kristaps Avots, parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs, shows debts of nearly 10,000 euros alongside substantial savings and investments. Avots has held the post since July 10.
Kristaps Avots, parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs, was required to file an official asset declaration upon taking office, revealing his financial situation. The document shows Avots carries debt obligations of close to 10,000 euros.
Savings and investments
Despite the debts, the declaration also shows considerable financial resources. Avots declared 1,000 euros in cash, while his non-cash savings total 16,744 euros. He also holds funds in a private pension fund.
Avots owns shares in nine US-registered companies, with a combined declared value of 4,436 US dollars, or roughly 3,844 euros. He also holds a stake in the company SIA "Normal Ventures" worth 2,800 euros, along with other financial instruments totaling 18,073 euros.
Property and vehicle
The declaration lists a 2019 Volvo XC40 in Avots' possession. He owns land in Aronas parish, as well as land and buildings in Allažu parish. In Riga, where his job is based, Avots rents rather than owns his apartment.
Kristaps Avots became parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs on July 10 this year.
