Andris Kulbergs of the United List (AS), who is forming Latvia's next government, says it is still unclear what the new governing coalition will look like. He spoke after his first talks with the National Alliance (NA) and New Unity (JV). The composition of the government and the parties backing it therefore remain unknown.

Kulbergs stressed that he does not yet have any real feeling about the final outcome. According to him, all options for political cooperation are still "on the table", meaning no possible combination of parties has been ruled out.

The talks with NA and JV are the first steps in the government formation process. The available information does not show what the parties agreed on or what demands they made. There are also no further details about the schedule of upcoming negotiations or possible partners.

The government formation task is to build a political majority able to support the new cabinet. Until the shape of the coalition is clear, it is not known which parties will take part in the government or what its priorities will be.
