Andris Kulbergs, a representative of the United List (AS), spoke positively about President Edgars Rinkēvičs during a podcast segment called "Politicians! What was that all about?!" He described Rinkēvičs as a highly respectable president capable of thinking about the country beyond political forces. Kulbergs also said he definitely considers it possible that Rinkēvičs could remain in office for another term.

At the same time, Kulbergs said the United List has not yet discussed a possible presidential candidate. In his view, the issue has not been topical for the alliance, and the potential second term for Rinkēvičs has not been considered as an official decision of the AS.

Rinkēvičs was elected president by the Saeima on 31 May 2023. In the third round of voting, he received 52 votes, while the then AS candidate Uldis Pīlēns received 25 votes. After Pīlēns's defeat, the United List's relations with the then coalition partners worsened, and the alliance went into opposition.

Kulbergs explained in the interview that the AS at the time fulfilled its pre-election promise to nominate its own presidential candidate. The next presidential election in the Saeima is due to be held in 2027.
