Kulbergs: government formation will assess which parties drop unrealistic promises
Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs says that while forming a new government, he intends to assess which parties are willing to abandon promises that cannot realistically be fulfilled. He stressed the importance of fewer disagreements within the coalition.

Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs of the Apvienotais sarakts (United List) party, who is involved in forming a new government, has said that during coalition negotiations he intends to evaluate which political parties are prepared to give up promises that are effectively impossible to deliver on.
Talks with everyone
In an interview with Latvian Television's morning program Rīta panorāma, Kulbergs said he plans to hold talks with all political parties, without ruling out any potential negotiating partner in the government formation process.
Fewer disagreements in the coalition
Kulbergs emphasized that one of the key criteria in shaping the new government is ensuring that there are as few internal disagreements as possible among the parties joining the coalition. In his view, this means parties should be ready to reconsider or abandon promises that cannot realistically be achieved, in order to secure a more stable and unified government.
The prime minister did not elaborate on which specific promises or parties might fail to meet this criterion, but his comments indicate that this factor will play a role in how the upcoming coalition negotiations unfold.
