A new basketball court meeting the standards of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has been officially opened in Kuldīga. The court was built in cooperation with the Latvian Basketball Union (LBS) and the local municipality, and is intended for both amateur and professional players.

In the coming months, similar full-size basketball courts will be established in several other Latvian towns and parishes. These include Alūksne, Balvi, Bauska, Raiskums, Daugavpils, Gulbene, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Jūrmala, Liepāja, Krāslava, Ķekava, Salacgrīva, Līvāni, Barkava, Mārupe, Ogre, Ulbroka, Salaspils, Saldus, Saulkrasti, Smiltene, Jaunpils, and Valmiera. In these locations, LBS collective members are implementing basketball programs.

Meanwhile, half-courts for 3x3 basketball, rather than traditional basketball, will be built in Kalngale and Carnikava. These courts will help develop street basketball culture and provide sporting opportunities for residents without access to a full-size court.

The new court in Kuldīga is part of a broader basketball infrastructure development program in Latvia, aimed at promoting sports and ensuring high-quality conditions for playing basketball across the country.
