Kuldīga to resume culture centre reconstruction after three-year halt

Reconstruction of the Kuldīga culture centre, halted three years ago when the building contractor went insolvent, will now resume in stages. Changes have been made to the project and funding will be secured gradually.

Work on rebuilding the Kuldīga culture centre, which came to a stop three years ago, is being prepared to restart. The pause was caused by the insolvency of the construction company responsible for the works at the time, which left the project stalled for years.

A new approach

During the intervening period, those responsible worked both on adjusting the project itself and on finding a way to secure financing. Since the original plan had stalled without a clear path forward, a decision was made to change the overall approach.

It has now been decided that the building's reconstruction will not be carried out as a single large undertaking but will instead be divided into several stages. Funding is likewise planned to be raised gradually, rather than seeking to cover the entire scope of work at once.

This phased approach allows work to resume even without the full project budget already secured, and reduces the risk of the building being left again in an unfinished state.
