Kuldīga Municipality Social Service Spent Over €5 Million in 2025

In May, the Kuldīga Municipality Council approved the Social Service's 2025 public report. The report reveals total budget revenue of €5.173 million, with €3.6 million coming from the municipality and the remainder from state targeted grants, project funds, and other sources.

Expenditures included €1.97 million for agency maintenance, staff salaries, and social services for 994 residents, plus €1.24 million in social benefits paid to 1,320 individuals.

Long-term care in nursing homes was a major expense: the municipality co-financed €900,924 for 109 clients. Home care was provided to 204 people at a cost of €345,056. Assistant services for persons with disabilities were used by 238 individuals, funded by state grants of €850,617.

Family support included social rehabilitation for 77 children after violence, parent education groups for 21 parents, and social correction programs for 18 youths with behavioral issues. The number of low-income and needy persons fell to 3.7% of the population (899 low-income and 447 needy individuals).

The most popular benefit was housing support, received by 1,181 residents totaling €684,958 – nearly half spent on firewood. Guaranteed minimum income (GMI) benefits were paid to 223 people (€142,201), with 70% being single-person households averaging €153 per month. Holiday benefits reached 707 residents at €53,540. Foster families and guardians received over €100,000 in various benefits.

During the year, 11 children were placed in foster families, and at year-end, 37 children lived in 25 foster families. The service continued to develop new programs and attract additional funding.
