Book "Zila, zila debess" Closes Centenary Programme for Kuldīga Sculptor Līvija Rezevska
A book titled "Zila, zila debess" (Blue, Blue Sky) has been launched in Kuldīga and Riga this autumn, concluding the centenary programme for sculptor Līvija Rezevska. Curator Maija Rudovska, who organised the programme, spoke about it in an interview.

A centenary programme dedicated to Kuldīga sculptor Līvija Rezevska has ended with a new book, "Zila, zila debess" (Blue, Blue Sky), launched this autumn in Kuldīga and Riga. The publication is the final element of a series of events marking the sculptor's anniversary. The programme was created by independent curator Maija Rudovska.
The people behind the book
The book is described as a project by women. Writer and artist Andra Manfelde empathises with the figures in the sculptures. Art scholar and writer Alise Volanska shares a story of memory. Paintings by Inga Meldere offer a gentle, deep respite from the written word. The publication is described as light and bright, like a blue sky, and also like the eyes of Zaļkalns, which readers can learn about in the book itself.
Who is Maija Rudovska
Rudovska runs Studija Kuldīgā, a gallery, residency and art space in the Kaļķu iela quarter. She is also writing a doctoral thesis on the history of curating and is concerned about the autonomy of art. In summer she created a public programme linked to Rezevska's centenary. A writer for the magazine Ir took part in it, and this led to the interview with the curator, which took place at the Studija she founded.
