Ministry of Culture Suspends Project by Society “Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem”
The Ministry of Culture, based on a conclusion from the Ministry of the Interior, has suspended a project implemented by the society “Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem” entitled “Festival of Cultural Diversity as a Stimulus for Joint Creativity and Integration”, funded under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for the 2021–2027 programming period.

The Ministry of Culture has decided to temporarily suspend a project run by the non-governmental organization “Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem” (I Want to Help Refugees). The decision was made following a conclusion provided by the Ministry of the Interior, the details of which have not been disclosed.
The project, called “Festival of Cultural Diversity as a Stimulus for Joint Creativity and Integration”, is financed under the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) for the 2021–2027 programming period. Its aim was to promote social integration and intercultural dialogue through artistic and creative activities.
The Ministry of Culture has not offered further explanation for the suspension, stating only that the decision is based on the Interior Ministry’s assessment. The organization “Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem” has not yet commented on the matter. As a result of the suspension, all planned activities, including the festival, are currently halted.
This move indicates stricter oversight of projects related to migration and integration and could affect the implementation of similar initiatives in the future.
