Ogre Woman Mistakes Grandson for Stranger and Calls Police
In late July, police in Ogre received a call from a woman who said an unknown person had moved into her room. It turned out to be her grandson, and the woman was experiencing memory problems.
A call came in to Ogre police on July 28 from an address on Madliena Street. A woman said that a person she did not recognize was staying in her room and would not leave. She asked officers for help, and a patrol went to the scene.
When police arrived, they met the woman and listened to her account. Given her advanced age, the officers believed during the conversation that she might have memory issues. Their suspicions grew stronger when the woman's son arrived shortly afterward and confirmed that his mother had problems with her memory. The son clarified what had happened: the woman took her grandson for a stranger, and that was why she thought someone had moved into her room without permission.
After all the parties were identified, police held a conversation with the family. It became clear that no unlawful action had taken place and no outsider had ever entered the property.
