Lāce sharply criticizes rivals in pre-election debate: talk of economic breakthrough is hypocritical

During the TV24 program "Pre-election Debates. Fight for Latvia," Agnese Lāce, representing the Progressives party, criticized other political forces, saying they are led by people with prior experience defending narrow economic interests.

Lāce argued that current claims about an upcoming economic breakthrough are unconvincing. In her view, if the state has previously lost out on potential revenue that could have supported its residents, then talking about an economic breakthrough now is hypocritical.

Proposals for the economy

Lāce said that economic development requires greater transparency, support for honest entrepreneurs, and a simpler tax payment system for small and medium-sized businesses. She stressed that such businesses are especially important for providing jobs in Latvia's regions.

The politician also called for avoiding a repeat of past mistakes and urged voters to remember politicians' previous actions when evaluating their credibility.

The TV24 discussion series "Pre-election Debates. Fight for Latvia" airs on Sundays in September as part of a program series ahead of the 15th Saeima elections. The program is funded by the Media Support Fund from the state budget, while AS "TV Latvija" is responsible for its content.
