Bear Found Inside Car in Colorado – Owner Gets a Scare
A Colorado man got a shock when he opened his pickup truck and found a bear inside that had entered through an open window. The incident ended without anyone getting hurt.

An unusual incident occurred in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. When Andy Kerrigan went to his pickup truck, he opened the door and saw a black bear inside. The animal had apparently climbed in through an open window in search of food.
With the help of his son, the owner managed to scare the bear away. Fortunately, no one was injured. The man was lucky because it was a young black bear, not an adult grizzly, which is far more dangerous.
Wildlife experts emphasize that people should never approach or feed bears. They recommend always locking car doors and closing windows, and not leaving food or strongly scented items inside, as bears are attracted to anything that could be a meal.
The American black bear is the most common bear species in North America. An adult male can grow up to 2 meters long and weigh 360 kilograms. Unlike grizzlies, black bears rarely attack humans – fatal attacks in the US occur on average no more than once a year.
Black bears mostly eat plants, nuts, berries, and fruits, but also carrion and insects. They often destroy beehives to get honey and larvae, and fish for salmon and trout in rivers. In human-populated areas, they often scavenge in garbage.
