ALDA Cup fishing season ends at Lake Lāde in Limbaži municipality
The final stage of this season's ALDA silver challenge cup in angling was held at Lake Lāde in Limbaži municipality, with 19 teams taking part. Before the stage, the team Laimīgie no Limbažu auto led the overall standings after five rounds.

On the third Sunday of October, the final stage of this season's silver travelling ALDA Cup in angling (spinning) took place at Lake Lāde in Limbaži municipality, Latvia. The event was organised by LAUTA, the Limbaži municipality's agency, and 19 teams took part. The stage also mattered for the season table, as it would determine how the leading teams would fill the top three both in this round and overall.
Conditions and catch
The day was sunny, but a wind blew that could whip up waves on the lake. Jānis Martinsons, who manages Lake Lāde, said the anglers did not have an easy time: waves rocked the boats and disrupted fishing. Even so, 22 pike, 20 perch and four zander were caught and counted in total. Many undersized pike were also hooked. Two teams caught all the species, so their result was multiplied by a factor of 1.5. Some teams returned with no catch at all.
The race for the top
Imants Saulītis represented the team Ko mēs te darām? without his partner and caught three pike. He fished by casting and said he dislikes trolling. In his view, trolling, which is permitted in the ALDA Cup, should not be allowed from a sporting standpoint, since the competition is in spinning.
Kaspars Ozoliņš of the team Laimīgie no Limbažu auto, together with partner Uldis Kleinhofs, caught four pike. A few more were undersized, and two of them fell only slightly short of the 50 cm minimum. The team won the previous stage at Lake Āstere and moved into the overall lead after five stages. Ozoliņš said that half of the fish photos posted in the competition's WhatsApp group came from the team Asaru biedrs, which was closely following Laimīgie. He predicted first place overall for his team and probably second in this stage. If they won a medal, it would be their fifth of the season. Their weakest stage was at Lake Katvari, where they went without a medal for the first time since joining the ALDA Cup.
