Overnight into Monday, brief rain is expected in many areas, with thunderstorms possible in some places, while daytime precipitation will be lighter and limited to parts of the country. Winds will be weak to moderate from the south or southwest, reaching gusts of up to 15 meters per second along the coast. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +13 to +18 degrees, while daytime highs will range from +19 to +23 degrees, with eastern regions warming up to +25 degrees in places.
Thunderstorms expected on Knowledge Day
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring similar conditions — sunshine only at times, with rain expected across much of the country. Wednesday deserves special mention, as it marks the start of the new school year in Latvia. Heavy downpours and thunderstorms are forecast for parts of the country during Knowledge Day afternoon, with thunder possibly still audible in some areas overnight into the following day.
On Tuesday, winds will be light, and fog may form in some areas overnight and in the morning. On Wednesday, wind will pick up, blowing weak to moderate from the west or southwest, becoming gusty along the coast during the day. Nighttime temperatures on these days will range from +12 to +16 degrees, while daytime air will warm to +17 to +22 degrees.
Cooler, rainier weekend ahead
As the weekend approaches, zones of precipitation will continue moving across Latvia, with daytime temperatures reaching around +20 degrees. On Saturday and Sunday, the weather will turn a few degrees cooler, rain is forecast across the entire country, and winds will again become gusty.
