Less than a year ago, during a training session of the Latvian national basketball team, Mārtiņš Laksa sustained a severe shoulder injury that prevented him from participating in the European Championship and effectively derailed his entire following season. After a lengthy rehabilitation, he managed to return to the court, but then broke a finger in practice, requiring another surgery. As a result, his season ended with only five games played.

However, the 35-year-old forward did not give up. After months of work in the weight room and rehabilitation, Laksa has again earned a spot in the Latvian national team candidate pool and is preparing to fight for the chance to once again wear the national team jersey. The player admits feeling of unfinished business, noting that each opportunity to play for Latvia could be one of the last in his career.
