Latvian basketball players have started the season in Iceland with mixed results. Álftanes, the club Laksa plays for, won convincingly against Höttur by 111:77, and he was one of the standout performers.
Laksa's productive game
Laksa spent 27 and a half minutes on court and scored 21 points. He made four of five two-point attempts, three of four three-pointers and all four free throws. He also had two steals and two rebounds, one assist, four drawn fouls, as well as turnovers and fouls of his own. Álftanes outscored Höttur by 30 points while he was on the floor.
Defeat for Meiers' team
In Iceland's top league, newcomers Sindri from Höfn lost to ÍR Reykjavík 91:97. Meiers played 32 minutes and scored ten points, hitting four of six two-point shots and both of his free throws. He added four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. His plus/minus rating was -6.
Setback for Vecvagars' squad in Lithuania
In the Lithuanian National League, the Kaunas Žalgiris reserve team, coached by Kaspars Vecvagars, suffered a heavy 87:108 defeat to a team from Ukmergė. The club's young players had won two games before this loss.
