Latvian basketball player Kitija Laksa reached the 1,000-point milestone in the EuroLeague Women, Europe's top-level women's club basketball competition, on Wednesday, 4 November. However, her team, Italian champions Famila Schio, suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 51-68 at home to Galatasaray of Istanbul, Turkey.

It was Laksa's 95th EuroLeague game. She came into it with 999 points in 94 appearances, so she crossed the 1,000 mark during the match. The forward spent 30 minutes and 43 seconds on court and scored seven points (2 of 4 on two-point shots, 1 of 7 from three-point range). She also grabbed two rebounds, blocked one shot, committed one turnover and finished with an efficiency rating of 1.

A rematch

Three weeks earlier, Famila Schio won the away game against Galatasaray 84-66. The Turkish side was not at full strength then and played without Dorka Juhász, the current EuroLeague MVP. This time Galatasaray, coached by Frédéric Dušár, took their revenge: they held the hosts to under 30% shooting from the field and won 51-68.

Galatasaray did not achieve all of their goals, though. Famila Schio kept a narrow lead in the head-to-head tally (1-1, +1), which could matter if the teams finish with identical records.

Group standings

After the games of 4 November, Famila Schio lead Group B with a 3-1 record, while Galatasaray are third at 2-2. The table also lists Crvena zvezda of Belgrade (3-1) and Kangoeroes (0-4) in Group B.
