Booed Larkin Scores for Red Wings, Then Sparks Brawl; Eichel Hits Ten Points

Dylan Larkin spent the past six seasons as captain of the Detroit Red Wings. Over the summer he said he wanted to be traded to another team. That did not happen, and the forward stayed in Detroit. He lost the captain's patch, and when the lineup was announced before the opening game of the season, fans booed him loudly.

Detroit claimed its first win of the season by beating the Senators 5-3. Larkin put his team ahead 2-1 in the 14th minute: right after a power play ended, he finished a fine passing play from in front of the net. He had a goal and an assist in the game.

At the end of the second period, visiting forward Ridly Greig knocked down Alex DeBrincat with a hit. Larkin went to defend his teammate, and the two sets of five skaters grappled in a brawl.

Eichel reaches ten points

The Vegas Golden Knights won 6-2 on the road against the Seattle Kraken. Tomas Hertl and Jack Eichel each collected four points. Hertl scored both of his goals on the power play, while Eichel recorded three assists: two on the power play for Hertl and one shorthanded for Mark Stone.

Eichel is the first player of the new NHL season to reach ten points. In four games, the Vegas center has two goals and eight assists. Connor McDavid has nine points in three games.

Kane back in Chicago

Patrick Kane played his first game as a home player in Chicago since February 2023. In between he played for the New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings, but this summer he returned home. The Blackhawks beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2.
