Lasenbergs returns to Liepaja after season in Austria

Basketball player Edgars Lasenbergs has rejoined BK Liepaja after playing the past season with Traiskirchen Lions in Austria, having previously played for Liepaja in the 2024/2025 season.

Edgars Lasenbergs, who spent the previous season in the Austrian league with Traiskirchen Lions, is returning to Latvian basketball club BK Liepaja. During the 2024/2025 season with Liepaja, the point guard averaged 13.0 points and 4.6 assists in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.

Before returning to Liepaja, Lasenbergs averaged 16.2 points and 6.6 assists this season in Austria. Club head coach Gundars Vētra stated that Lasenbergs was a desired addition since the start of summer and highlighted him as a high-quality local player with leadership qualities.

The player, hailing from Vandzene in Talsi municipality, has previously represented Valmiera, Latvijas Universitāte, Valka/Valga, and Ogre. He gained his first overseas experience in the Lithuanian league with Pasvalys Pieno žvaigždės, later playing for Ventspils, Ourense in the Spanish third division, and Ogre again. In recent seasons, he has alternated between Traiskirchen Lions and Liepaja.

Current Liepaja roster includes Francis Neilands, Reds Martinsons, Edvards Egle, Kristiāns Šulcs, Renārs Jasāns, Reinis Avotiņš, and Henriks Bajārs.
