Shanghai, the Chinese team represented by Latvian 3x3 basketball player Kārlis Lasmanis, lost the final of the Macau Masters tournament on Sunday, falling 15:21 to Ub of Serbia. The Serbian side were regarded as the tournament favourites and took the title match. 3x3 is a form of basketball played three-a-side on a single hoop.

The final

Lasmanis scored three points in the final. Lu Pencheng was the top scorer for Shanghai with six. For the winners, Strahinja Stojačić and Dejan Majstorović each added seven points, helping Ub secure the victory.

The road to the final

In the knockout stage, Shanghai beat Taipei, the tournament's number 10, 21:18 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals they won by the same 21:18 score against Miami, the number 3.

Other Latvians in the event

Francis Lācis played for DeQing (number 9). In the quarterfinals the team lost 13:22 to the same Ub side. Lācis finished that game with one point and five rebounds.

Hong Kong, represented by Agnis Čavars (number 16), did not reach the knockout games. The team suffered two defeats in its group and was eliminated.

For Lasmanis's team, the final capped a run of two knockout wins and a bid for the top prize, but the Serbian players took first place.
