Latgale is included in the new Council of Europe cultural route "Path of Singing Heritage". This European network connects sites and traditions related to the cultural heritage of singing.

On Latvijas Radio's program Kultūras rondo, the creators of the Latvian section of the route discussed its significance and the singing traditions it highlights. The speakers were members of the folklore song and dance ensemble Svātra: Sarmīte Teivāne, Anita Zarāne, and Baiba Pankjāne, as well as Gita Lancere, intangible cultural heritage expert at the Latvian National Centre for Culture. They introduced what singing traditions can be explored along the route.

The new route is part of the Council of Europe's Cultural Routes programme, which aims to promote cultural tourism and awareness of shared European heritage. "Path of Singing Heritage" emphasizes the diversity of singing traditions, including those in the Latgale region, known for its rich vocal traditions.
