The Latgalian culture movement «Volūda» is holding its seventh annual prose contest, «Latgolys prozys skaitejumi 2026», inviting authors connected to the Latgale cultural space to submit entries by November 1.

The Latgalian culture movement «Volūda» has opened registration for its annual prose contest «Latgolys prozys skaitejumi 2026», which translates to «Latgale Prose Readings 2026». This marks the seventh year the organization has held the competition.
Purpose of the contest
The initiative aims to support the development of the literary process in Latgale and encourage the creation of new prose works written in the Latgalian language in Latvia. Prose authors who belong to the Latgale cultural space are invited to take part.
How to apply
Those interested can submit their entries until November 1 of this year. The organizers at «Volūda» are calling on eligible authors not to delay and to take the opportunity to participate in a contest that serves as meaningful support for preserving and developing literature written in the Latgalian language.
The contest is one of the ways the cultural identity and language of the Latgale region are being strengthened, giving authors the chance to create and publish their work in Latgalian.
