Latgalian Language Dictation Held for the Tenth Time: Live Broadcast on 17 October
The tenth Latgalian language dictation takes place on Saturday, 17 October. It can be heard on Latvijas Radio 1 and watched live on several websites.

The tenth Latgalian language dictation is being held today, 17 October. A dictation is an event in which participants write down a text read aloud, in this case in Latgalian, and this year marks the tenth time it has been organised. Three organisers are behind it: the Latgale editorial office of the public media outlet LSM, the Latgalian cultural movement "Volūda" and the Latgalian cultural news portal lakuga.lv.
The event is held to mark State Language Day in Latvia and to highlight the richness of the Latvian language. Latgalian is a historical form of Latvian used in the Latgale region.
How to follow the dictation
The dictation begins at 18:15. Listeners can hear it on Latvijas Radio 1 in the Latgalian-language programme "Kolnasāta". Those who want to watch it can do so on LSM.lv, REplay.lv and the Latgalian cultural news portal lakuga.lv.
This means the dictation can be followed both on the radio and online, so participants can join from anywhere with radio or internet access.
