Use of Latgalian in Media Still Relevant Before Elections
Last year during municipal election debates, a TV host told a candidate speaking Latgalian to speak Latvian, sparking ongoing discussion about the role of the Latgalian language in media ahead of the Saeima elections.

In the run-up to last year's municipal elections, LTV program "Izvēlies nākotni!" host Guntis Bojārs interrupted a candidate in Rēzekne debates who answered in Latgalian, saying: "Speak to me in Latvian!" The phrase caused a stir and remains a topic of discussion in society.
The question of the place of the Latgalian language in the public sphere has become particularly relevant now, as the Saeima elections approach. Media outlets and politicians face the challenge of balancing language diversity with the status of the national language. Debates continue over whether regional languages like Latgalian should have a role in pre-election campaigns and media content.
