The Latgalian language continues to thrive in Rēzekne, with nearly 140 students learning it in the previous academic year, according to the city's 2025 annual report. Specifically, during the 2025/2026 school year, Latgalian language classes were offered in three Rēzekne schools: Rēzekne Elementary School, Rēzekne 5th Primary School, and Rēzekne State Polish Gymnasium. A total of 136 students participated.

The largest number of students, 56, studied Latgalian at Rēzekne Elementary School. At Rēzekne 5th Primary School, 42 children learned the language, while 38 students did so at Rēzekne State Polish Gymnasium.

The municipality notes that learning Latgalian promotes awareness of regional culture and identity, and strengthens students' connection to the cultural space of Latgale. This is a positive sign for the preservation and development of the Latgalian language for future generations.
