Latvians in Chinese 3x3 Teams: Lācis Advances, Lasmanis Eliminated
Kārlis Lācis' team "DeQing" reached the quarterfinals, while Kārlis Lasmanis' Shanghai squad failed to advance after group stage.
Lācis and DeQing Reach Quarterfinals
Seeded ninth, "DeQing" won both games in Group B. They first defeated "Rome" (14th seed) 21-18, then beat the US team "Miami" (2nd seed) 21-17, finishing first in the group. Kārlis Lācis scored six points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished two assists in the first game. In the second, he recorded four points and three rebounds. In the quarterfinals on Sunday, DeQing will face "Baskets", the runner-up from Group D.
Lasmanis Fails to Advance
Seeded fifth, the Shanghai team featuring Kārlis Lasmanis lost both games in Group D. They fell to Bonn's "Baskets" (7th seed) 9-21, and then to Amsterdam's "Rabobank" (4th seed) 16-21, finishing last in the group and missing the playoffs. Lasmanis scored three points in the first game and four points, four rebounds, and two assists in the second.
