Latvian Rallycross Drivers Secure Six Wins in Lithuania

Latvian athletes dominated the third round of the Baltic Rallycross Championship in Lithuania, taking 19 out of 24 podium places.

Last weekend, the third round of the Latvia-Lithuania and Baltic Rallycross Championship took place at the Vilkyčiai track in Lithuania. Latvian drivers delivered an impressive performance, securing six victories and a total of 19 podium positions out of 24.

Class Winners and Results

In the Yaris 1000 class, Jēkabs Martinovs won, extending his championship lead. Magnuss Baumanis finished second, and Armands Krivenkovs took third.

In the Cross Car Mini class, nine-year-old Gustavs Korņējevs claimed victory, beating Alvis Pinkulis and Marians Bērzkalns in the final. After the race, Korņējevs highlighted his successful starts as key.

In a fierce battle, Cross Car Junior class saw Everts Grava win, Patrīcija Neikšāne finish second, and Mārtiņš Dreibe third. Neikšāne impressed with fast starts in all heats, while Dreibe set the fastest lap in the final.

The Cross Car class was dominated by Roberts Purmalis of "Hornet Racing," with teammate Adrians Apsītis in second place. The only non-Latvian in contention was local driver Jokūbs Bagdanavičius.

In Lada RX, the entire podium went to Latvia: Niks Mežiņš won, followed by Rolands Bružāns and Niks Cinītis.

The Super 1600 class belonged to the hosts, with Valdas Mikuzis (the track owner's grandson) winning at home after several years. He was followed by Rytis Rutkauskas, while Estonian Kaspars Alliks took third.

After a challenging start to the season, Lenards Patriks Lepsis won the Super 2000 class, ahead of Varis Žentiņš and Kristaps Kasparovičs. Lepsis noted the victory is crucial for the title fight.

In BMW RX3000, Lithuanian Lukas Sidabras won, with Latvians Jānis Olle and Helmuts Bartkēvičs finishing second and third, respectively.

Championship Standings After Three Rounds

Leaders remain: Lukas Sidabras (BMW RX3000, 104 pts), Valdas Mikuzis (Super 1600, 62), Niks Mežiņš (Lada RX, 70), Jēkabs Martinovs (Yaris 1000, 70). In junior classes, Roberts Purmalis (Cross Car, 95) and Gustavs Korņējevs (Cross Car Mini, 97) lead. The closest battle is in Super 2000, where Lepsis (88) and Žentiņš (87) are separated by just one point. In team standings, "SK Garkalne Racing" leads with 177 points.

Other Events

Before the parade lap, Lithuanian driver Dovydas Padgurskis proposed to his partner. The next round will take place on July 18-19 at the Mūsa Raceland track in Bauska, Latvia.
