Latvian Language Agency launches word-game contest and seminar for Ukrainians

The Latvian Language Agency is inviting entries for its "Harvest Season Word Game" contest until October 31, 2026, while also organizing an informational seminar on Latvian language training for Ukrainian civilians.

The Latvian Language Agency (LVA) has announced a new language game contest called the "Harvest Season Word Game." Those interested are invited to prepare and submit their entries to the agency's email address, valodas.speles@valoda.lv. The submission deadline is set for October 31, 2026.

The contest is designed as an educational and entertaining activity that also helps participants improve their language skills in a playful way. The agency is encouraging anyone interested to take part and share their creative work.

Support for Ukrainian civilians

Separately, the agency has announced an informational seminar dedicated to implementing Latvian language training for Ukrainian civilians. The seminar aims to support the successful integration of Ukrainian residents into Latvian society, the education system, and the labor market. To that end, the Latvian Language Agency will provide the relevant language courses, and interested individuals are invited to sign up to participate in the seminar.

Both initiatives form part of the agency's broader work to promote the learning of Latvian among various groups in society — from children and families who can join the word game to newcomers who need Latvian for daily life and integration.
