Latvian language courses more accessible? State plans unified system
By 2029, state-organized Latvian language courses for adults are planned to be merged into a single system on the STARS platform, improving quality and accessibility.
Currently, state-funded Latvian language courses for adults are organized by various institutions, each with its own rules and approach. This fragmentation creates confusion and inconsistent course quality. To address this, the Ministry of Education aims to create a unified system by 2029, based on the STARS platform. The new approach will standardize course content, evaluation criteria, and accessibility. The ministry states that this will make courses more qualitative and accessible for all interested. Work is currently underway on the concept and necessary infrastructure. The unified system will also enable more effective monitoring of course implementation and evaluation of results, as well as reduce administrative burden for organizers.
