Latvian traveler calls this her best Italian holiday yet
A Latvian traveler shares impressions from her fourth trip to Italy, describing it as one of her best holidays so far. At Rome's Trevi Fountain, the crowds she expected were absent, likely due to the summer heat.
A traveler from Latvia says Italy draws her in with everything from its cuisine to its culture, and this was already her fourth visit to the country. Although most of the places she visited were already familiar to her, since she wanted to show them to her travel companion, revisiting them still brought new discoveries.
Arrival in Rome
The couple landed at Rome's airport on a Wednesday evening. Tired after a workday and the flight, they were relieved to find they could reach the city center by train, with the station just a 10-minute walk from their accommodation.
Their mood improved further when they discovered a typical local restaurant right across from their apartment. A starter, main course, dessert and wine for two cost them just 26 euros. Although the meal was simple, as devoted fans of Italian cuisine they found it well-timed and enjoyable. Around 10 p.m. the pair had dinner at an Italian restaurant, while the outdoor temperature already hinted at a hot week ahead.
Trevi Fountain without the crowds
The next morning, the travelers headed to Rome's famous Trevi Fountain. Based on what they had seen on social media, they expected huge crowds, but this did not turn out to be the case — it appeared the hot weather had kept many visitors away.
The traveler admits the Trevi Fountain still impresses her despite having seen it several times before. The couple took photos from various angles and, following tradition, tossed coins into the fountain.
