Perimenopause is a life stage that affects every woman, yet it remains far less discussed than other aspects of women's health. Two Latvian entrepreneurs, Elīna Pīka-Lepere and Zanda Freimane, have set out to change that by developing a new digital solution designed specifically for women navigating this stage of life.
The two founders say the idea grew out of recognizing a wider need for information and support around a question that millions of women around the world ask themselves, often without finding a clear answer.
A deliberate choice to avoid AI
When building a product in the health sector, Pīka-Lepere and Freimane decided against using generative artificial intelligence. They describe this as a conscious decision, made because of how sensitive and consequential health-related information can be for users.
Encouraging open conversation
Both entrepreneurs stress that it is important for society to better understand perimenopause and how it affects women's daily lives and wellbeing. Through their new solution, they hope to help break the silence that still surrounds the topic and make information and support more accessible to a wider circle of women.
The founders shared more about their experience and motivation in an interview with TVNET.
