Heat up to 35°C and tropical nights forecast in Latvia
This weekend and Monday, Latvia is expected to experience heat up to 35°C, with tropical nights where temperatures do not drop below 20°C, warn weather forecasters.
On Friday, there will be some rain in the east and mostly light north winds. Daytime temperatures will rise to +22…+27°C, but a few degrees cooler on the coast, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Weekend Heat
Warmer air will flow in over the weekend and Monday, causing a significant temperature rise. On Saturday, only locally temperatures may reach +30°C, but on Sunday and Monday, heat of +30…+35°C is expected across most of the country. During the weekend, tropical nights (temperatures not falling below +20°C) are expected locally, and on the night to Monday, in many places.
Precipitation and Thunderstorms
Due to an anticyclone, Saturday and Sunday will be mostly dry, with only occasional rain at night. Monday will be rainier, with potential for thunderstorms. On Tuesday, temperatures in central and eastern regions may still reach +25…+28°C, but the heat will subside later in the week, though it will remain summer warm.
End of June and Start of July
At the end of June, after the hot days, local thunderclouds may bring heavy rain. July will also start with rainy days.
