Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre forecasts that the weather in the country will turn colder in the coming days: after a relatively milder Thursday, nighttime temperatures next week will hover around zero across a wider area, while daytime highs will stay below +10°.
Thursday
The sky will be cloudy, with some clearing in places. Light rain is possible only in a few spots in eastern districts. Fog will form in some areas overnight, reducing visibility.
Winds will be light to moderate from the northwest and west, and during the day gusts on the coast will reach 15 m/s. The night will be warmer than earlier nights in the first half of the week: the air will cool to +1...+6°, and a couple of degrees warmer on the coast. In the daytime the temperature will rise to +7...+12°.
Friday
Overnight the coast will remain gusty. Northwesterly and northerly gusts will reach 15–17 m/s. Cloud cover will vary, and during the night hours clouds will bring brief rain in places. The minimum temperature will be similar to the night before Thursday, while during the day the air will warm to +5...+10°.
Weekend and next week
Over the weekend and at the start of next week, light rain is expected only in a few places. If the temperature trend over the weekend resembles that of previous days, the night before Saturday could be a few degrees colder still as the sky clears. Next week will turn slightly colder: nighttime temperatures across a wider area will hover around 0°, and daytime maximums will remain below +10°.
