Yellow Warning Issued in Latvia for Strong Wind and Heavy Rain

An active cyclone will approach Latvia from the southwest overnight Wednesday, bringing heavy rain to the northwestern regions first. During the day, precipitation will intensify and spread across most of the country, with local thunderstorms possible.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued a yellow warning. There is a possibility that an orange-level warning will come into effect on the night of July 9 due to the expected heavy rain.

On Wednesday morning, coastal areas will experience increasing north and northwest winds, with gusts reaching 20 to 24 meters per second. Strong gusts will persist until the evening of July 9. The rain is expected to subside on Friday.
