The EU's statistical office, Eurostat, released data on Friday covering retail trade turnover changes in 25 member states for July, compared with the same month a year earlier.

According to the figures, Latvia's retail trade turnover increased by 7.1% in July compared to July of the previous year. This result placed Latvia in second place among all the EU member states surveyed in terms of retail growth pace.

Latvia's figure significantly exceeded the average retail trade turnover growth recorded across both the European Union and the eurozone for the same period.

The Eurostat data covers 25 of the EU's member states and is published regularly, allowing for comparison of consumer spending trends across European countries.
