Latvia to skip Sidecar Nations Cup but field a quad bike team

Latvia will not take part in this year's sidecar motocross Nations Cup, continuing a pattern from last year when the Netherlands won the event, with Britain taking second and France third, ahead of Belgium and Estonia.

This year's competition will be held on the Dordogne-Gaignoux track, with nine national teams confirmed to take part: the Netherlands, Britain, France, Belgium, Estonia, Switzerland, Italy and Denmark. Defending champions the Netherlands will field three crews, including brothers Tim and Sam Leferink. Belgium has entered a strong lineup as well, featuring 2026 world champions Marvin Vanluchene and Ben Van den Bogaert.

Among the Baltic states, only Estonia will again compete in the sidecar class — though one Estonian crew will include a Latvian rider, Markuss Tomass Dukulis, who will pair with driver Markus Normak. Estonia's team also includes two other duos.

Latvia entered in the quad class

Meanwhile, in the quad bike Nations motocross, held this year for the first time as a world championship event, 12 teams have entered, including Latvia. The Latvian squad will be represented by world championship competitors Kārlis Neija, Kārlis Straubergs and Reinis Bicāns.

Estonia will also field a quad team, considered among the favorites thanks to 2026 world champion Kevin Saar, alongside Rasmus Sena and Karl Robin Rillo.

Last year, Latvia's quad team — with Neija, Bicāns and Kārlis Lizanders — finished tenth among the competing nations.
