Colder Weather Ahead in Latvia, With Frost and Heavier Downpours Forecast
Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre expects cloudy, damp weather over the weekend, followed by a colder air mass arriving from the north in the middle of next week. Heavier showers are possible on the coast, and temperatures may fall below zero at night in places.

Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, the agency that produces the country's weather forecasts, says conditions will stay cloudy and damp in the coming days, but colder air will flow in from the north in the middle of next week. That means frost is expected in places at night, while the coast may see heavier downpours and gusty winds.
The weekend
On Friday the sky will be cloudy, with some clearing in the west. Light rain is expected in many areas overnight, and it will rain from time to time in the eastern part of the country during the day. Fog will form in some districts at night and in the morning. Winds will be light to moderate from the west during the day. Night temperatures will drop to +5…+10°, and daytime highs will reach +7…+12°.
Overnight into Saturday, clouds will mostly cover the sky and rain will fall in many places, while during the day rain is expected only locally and the sun will occasionally break through. Fog will form in many eastern and central districts and persist into the morning. Winds will mostly be light, but on the coast at night a moderate north-westerly or northerly wind will gust up to 14 m/s. Night temperatures will be +3…+9°, with daytime highs of +7…+11°.
Sunday will be cloudy with some clearing in places and light rain in a few areas. Winds will be light, and fog will again form in some districts at night. Temperatures will fall to +3…+8° overnight and reach +7…+10° by day.
Next week
No significant changes are expected in the first half of next week. In the middle of the week, however, temperatures will fall by a couple of degrees: daytime highs will not exceed +4…+9 degrees, and in places night temperatures will drop below 0°. Precipitation clouds will actively form over the sea, so the coast will get more precipitation and stronger downpours are possible. Winds will mainly be westerly and northerly, with gusty winds on the coast in midweek.
