From September 2 to October 8, Latvia will host the large-scale national defence exercise Namejs 2026, involving 12,000 soldiers and National Guard members across the country.

Latvia's National Armed Forces (NAF) have announced that a large-scale national defence exercise called Namejs 2026 will take place across the country from September 2 to October 8.
The exercise, organized by the NAF, will involve roughly 12,000 participants in total, including active-duty soldiers and members of the National Guard (Zemessardze). Activities are planned in various locations throughout Latvia over the course of more than a month.
The exercise forms part of the country's regular defence-readiness drills, aimed at testing and strengthening the preparedness and cooperation of Latvia's armed forces under different scenarios.
