From 26 October to 2 November, residents of Latvia should expect unusual sights on the country's roads and railways, as allied soldiers and military equipment will be moving intensively. The movements are linked to the exercise “Resolute Reforger 2026”, launched by the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia. NATO is the military alliance of the United States, Canada and European countries. According to the Latvian army, it is the largest deployment exercise held by the brigade so far.

Scale and purpose

About 3,000 soldiers and 1,000 pieces of military equipment will take part. The main goal is to test the brigade's ability to move, supply and command units over long distances. This will be done in close cooperation with the National Armed Forces, as Latvia's army is called.

What residents will see

At exercise locations, not only soldiers and heavy equipment will be visible. Canadian Armed Forces CH-146 “Griffon” helicopters will also be seen in the sky.

The military units are expected to return to their bases between 4 and 8 November. The National Armed Forces have already thanked residents for their understanding and support, which is important for strengthening Latvia's defence capabilities.
