A new political party called "Rising Sun for Latvia" (abbreviated ASL) has been established in Latvia. The party was founded on August 23, 2025.

This date is marked annually in the Baltic states as the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism. The same day also commemorates the anniversary of the Baltic Way — the 1989 mass peaceful protest in which people across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania formed a long human chain to protest against Soviet occupation. The founders of the new party chose this specific date to register their organization.

The new party is headed by Raivis Zeltītis. He previously served for several years as secretary general of the National Alliance (NA), one of the leading positions within that party's structure. Before that, Zeltītis also led NA's youth organization, meaning he was involved with the party at various levels over a long period.

With the founding of "Rising Sun for Latvia," a new force has appeared on Latvia's political scene, led by an experienced, long-time former official of the nationally oriented party. No further public information has so far been provided about the new party's program, goals or planned future activities — only its name, founding date, and its leader's identity and prior political background are known at this stage.
