Latvia Switches to Winter Time
In the night to Sunday, 25 October, clocks in Latvia were turned back one hour as the country moved to winter time. The next switch to summer time is set for 28 March 2027.

Latvia moved from summer time to winter time overnight from Saturday to Sunday, with clocks set back by one hour. The Ministry of Economics confirmed this to the news portal Delfi. The change affects all residents of Latvia, and clocks are still adjusted twice a year because the European Union (EU) has not reached agreement on a different arrangement.
How the clock change works
The procedure for the switch is set out in Cabinet of Ministers regulations titled "On the Transition to Summer Time". Under them, clocks are changed twice a year:
- on the last Sunday of March at 3:00, clocks go forward one hour;
- on the last Sunday of October at 4:00, clocks go back one hour.
In 2026, summer time was in effect from 29 March to 25 October. The next switch to summer time is expected on 28 March 2027.
The situation in the European Union
The start and end of summer time are uniform across the European Union. At EU level, no common position has been reached on new rules for changing the clocks twice a year. As a result, the previously approved arrangement remains in force: in Latvia, summer time lasts from the last Sunday of March until the last Sunday of October.
