Latvia submits Viestus Kairišs' film «Uļa» for Oscar consideration
Latvia has selected director Viestus Kairišs' feature film «Uļa» as its candidate for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The decision was made by a national panel of experts.

As the annual process for countries to submit candidates for the US Academy Award for Best International Feature Film has begun, Latvia has named its entry for this year.
Director Viestus Kairišs' feature film «Uļa» has been confirmed as Latvia's submission. The choice was made by a national panel of experts, who reviewed the Latvian films entered into this year's international competition. The selection was announced by representatives of the National Film Centre.
«Uļa» is Kairišs' latest work and has already earned recognition at Class A international film festivals. The lead role is played by actor Kārlis Arnolds Avots.
The film must now go through the Academy's official selection process in order to be considered for the shortlist and potentially receive a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category.
