Average age at death slightly increases in Latvia

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau shows that in 2025, the average age at death in Latvia was 75.9 years, an increase of five months compared to 2024. Significant gender differences persist: the average age at death for men was 70.6 years, while for women it was 80.5 years.

A total of 26,109 deaths were registered in Latvia in 2025, which is 552 (2.1%) fewer than the previous year. These figures indicate gradual improvements in life expectancy, though the gap between male and female mortality remains substantial.
